The Planet Khealakh - History

History

Back to the Khealakh system contents

The world of Khealakh was settled around the year 4466 AD (-53 Imperial) by surviving remnants of the Aoiftu clan. Given the history of the Aoiftu the history of Khealakh is tied up in that of the Aoiftu Roakh itself.

The clan Aoiftu which had been a vassal of the Tralyeaeawi found themselves cut loose from Tralyeaeawi support when in 4463 AD (-56 Imperial) the Uwaralyekose, or Cultural Purge began. The Aoiftu resisted, the main point of contention being the treatment of male and female Aslan within the clan. As a consequence of a virulent disease which has struck the Aoiftu some fifty years earlier the Aoiftu had been forced to use all their people in occupations which their sex had traditionally excluded them from. The effect of the losses produced by the disease had changed the clans male-female ratio to 1 to 2. As a consequence male and female were forced to move into professions which their sex had previously precluded them from.

With the threat of force hanging over them to conform to the "cultural norm" and abandoned by the Tralyeaeawi, the Aoiftu had a clan meeting to determine their future. On the one hand if they conformed, the unbalanced male-female ratio would result in their fortunes dropping further, possible the clan would disappear entirely. On the other hand they could strike out on their own, far beyond the Hierate. After much discussion the clan voted to leave Hierate space and strike out for a future of their own making.

So it was that around 4466 AD (-53 Imperial) the Aslan of clan Aoiftu arrived at the planet Khealakh with a small armada of vessels of what ever types the clan could assemble in secret.

Though ideal in many ways for the Aslan, Khealakh lacked one thing, land. In only a few generations a land shortage was beginning to arise, and with the still slanted male-female ratio many males were not likely to acquire families of their own. So after having been on the planet for only seventy years the Aoiftu began to spread out to neighbouring systems.

The population continued to grow on Khealakh and her rapidly acquired colony worlds. Around 4543 AD (24 Imperial) the Aioftu discovered that they were not alone in there portion of the sector when an Aoiftu survey vessel was hailed by a Trade Confederation ship while in the Taliesin system. The event could have gone badly since neither people had been aware of the other despite the relative closeness of the two states.

What actually happened became legend. The captain of the Confederation Ship, Reynaud Daraken managed to negotiate a trade deal with the Aoiftu after first defeating the captain, Treakhaiskheh of the Aoiftu vessel in hand to hand combat. It turned out Daraken was a master of martial arts. Treakhaiskheh was so impressed with the human that he was invited to Khealakh. Daraken was appointed the Trade Confederations ambassador to the Aoiftu and spent the remainder of his life on Khealakh where he was buried.

The influence of Daraken and the Trade Confederation on the Aoiftu can only be described as amazing. It is as a direct consequence of Darakens friendship with Treakhaiskheh that the social status orientation of the Aoiftu shifted from land to wealth. This finally culminated in 4590 AD (71 AD)with the Trade Confederation ceding the four systems of the Stiysekh cluster to the Aoiftu and the Aoiftu Roakh and Trade Confederation signing a free trade agreement. With a few minor conflicts between them the agreement remained in force until 4720 AD (201 Imperial) when the Trade Confederation collapsed as a result of the Delsun War.

The Aoiftu Roakh did not have a direct role in the war between the Trade Confederation and the Delsun Comagistrate but many Aslan originating from the Aoiftu Roakh did take place either as mercenaries hired by the Trade Confederation or as citizens of one of the Confederations member worlds. But when the Trade Confederation collapsed at the end of the war the Aoiftu Roakh were not in a position to fill the void. Immediately coreward of them another Aslan state had been founded, this one following the dictates of the Aslan Hierate. They were beginning to place pressure on the Aoiftu. This time the Aoiftu were in no mood to flee again. They had made their new place and they would fight for it if needed.

Clashes with the Woal Warliyir slowly began to increase, both in frequency and size. But no state of war was ever declared between the two states. The Woal Warliyir considered the Aioftu Roakh to be barbarians and would not treat with them. The Aoiftu Roakh on the other hand considered the Woal Warliyir as Hierate puppets who would one day be swallowed up by one of the Hierate clans.

This state of on-again off-again "wars" continued until virus reached the sector. Virus swept away both of the Aslan states. Khealakh was very badly hit, losing over two billion people and all its technology. Currently the world is split between various successor groups using relic technology to remain in power. The future is uncertain.
