The two Valkyrie class fleet escorts are survivors of a much larger class.
Through much cannibalisation the Hope Federation Navy has managed to restore two
to operational condition. Hopes of a third were recently dashed when the jump
drive on this one was found to be beyond repair. The two Valkyrie class vessels
are now used, in the post virus universe, as defacto battleships, though
obviously if put up against a genuine vessel of imperial battleship class the
Valkyries would stand no chance. Against anticipated threats though they are
expected to perform well.
