The Hermes experimental heavy fighter, classified as an interceptor was the ultimate response to the imperiums proposed requirement for a high acceleration fighter within the general configuration of a standard imperial heavy fighter. The Hermes was capable of 12G of acceleration and carried 34.6 GHours of fuel. This was considered acceptable given that crew would not tolerate this acceleration for extended periods. Like the other high speed fighters the Hermes is not fitted with a contra-grav lifter, again this is not considered a disadvantage for this type, which in the case of the Hermes can still boast 11G in an atmosphere. |
