The Xanthus class general purpose shuttle continues the evolutionary design
path started with the TL11 Staton class, and like the Statons and subsequent
classes, the Xanthus class vessels are assigned to fleet tankers
and as large away boats or lighters.
Also in common with the earlier classes, the Xanthus class vessels can be
reconfigured to vary the
amount of L-Hyd or dry cargo
carried, the conversion not resulting in any loss of performance when carrying
normal cargoes.
