There are no records so far found which indicate how many planetoid vessels were built by the TL14 shipyards of the Virian Belt. Given the plentiful supply of nickel-iron asteroids available the number could be huge. Though not very efficient as spacecraft as a result of the huge quantities of fuel needed to move the bulk of a planetoid, planetoid hulled vessels are proficient as space-stations and monitors where their reaction thrusters do not need to be used often. The Guardian class of heavy monitor show both the advantages and disadvantages of the type. Built in a roughly spherical 60,000 displacement ton nickel-iron asteroid the hull is cheap, though very heavy. Systems though are much more restricted than a conventional vessel of the same displacement. Maneuver drive endurance is also very limited and because of the necessity to move a very heavy mass the HePlaR thruster needs a great deal of power and consequently a larger power plant. |

Fuel purification equipment (101.5625Mw) is sufficient to purify 20,312.5 cubic meters in 6 hours (96 hours for entire load exclusive of power plant fuel) No fuel scoops are fitted. A total of 103 gas skim passes are required of the fuel shuttles to refuel the vessel exclusive of power plant fuel. Hull details were derived from Fire Fusion & Steel 2, all other details are as per Fire Fusion & Steel 1 EM Mask is based on volume of hull actually hollowed out rather than the total displacement.
