Situated only 2 parsecs from the Aoiftu Roakh capital at Khealakh, Tleakheh was an early colonisation target. The first vessels reaching the system in 4502 AD. The colonists of the Aoiftu found a world abundant in minerals and native life. They also found a world with extremes of temperature, unforgiving to those who made mistakes. Despite the harsh conditions on Tleakheh the colonists stayed, the mineral output of the world was huge, and some of the local flora and fauna proved to be in demand as exports to Khealakh and the other new colony worlds. In 4543 AD a survey ship left the Tleakheh system for Taliesin. The result of this voyage altered Aoiftu society, when the survey ship ran into a Trade Confederation vessel. The resulting trade agreement resulted in a human presence in the Aoiftu, including on Tleakheh, trade through Tleakheh increased enormously. The status of the Aoiftu Aslan becomming based on overall wealth rather than simply land. The growth fostered by trade between the Aoiftu and the Trade Confederation abruptly stopped in 4720 AD when the Trade Confederation, embroiled in a war with the Delsun Comagistrate collapsed. Tleakheh entered a decline, most trade with the capital was concentrated on the worlds of the Stiysekh cluster, Tleakheh one of the gateway systems to the Trade Confederation became a backwater. The human presence on Tleakheh gradually disappeared and the tech level gradually declined as little investment was available from elsewhere within the Aoiftu Roakh. Occassional freighters from other worlds of the Aoiftu Roakh still visited, but Tleakheh had become a quarry. To live on Tleakheh was considered to be one of low status. In 5108 AD exploratory vessels of the Third Imperium entered the sector, calling briefly at Tleakheh before moving on to Khealakh, Tleakheh was still a backwater. Occassional traders from Alston and Virian Belt also called occassionly at Tleakheh. In 5649AD Tleakheh's position had not improved a great deal. Trade was again flowing through Tleakheh from Virian Belt and Alston to Khealakh, but in general cargoes transitted through the system. Tleakheh was very badly hit by virus, loosing nearly 900 million. Less than one percent of the original population surviving. But Tleakheh had made the locals tough and self reliant. They survived. Currently the planet Tleakheh still clings to "life". The technology is a stable tech level 8 and a few spacecraft are moving through the system. Contact with the Alston League has resulted in offers of aid to Tleakheh, to get her few remaining starships jump capable again, as well as the establishment of training facilities on Tleakheh. |
