The original name for the League subsector was Virian, which was named
for the highly populated and technologically advanced Virian Belt which
dominated the coreward portion of the subsector. The onset of virus destroyed
this. It is only now, seventy years after virus, that the Alston League has
begun to explore and reclaim the systems around it.

The highest population level was 9 at Alston, Virian Belt and Sutherland, and the highest tech level was 15 found at Virian Belt. In 5717 AD (1201 Imperial), the total population is 10.2 billion sophonts, with the highest population level 10 at Alston, and the highest tech level 11 also at Alston. |
