The system GJ 687 was surveyed by Le Royaume des Etoiles du Cygne in 2646 and a colony was established only two years later. The system is on the end of the route from Cygne via GJ 725 (Struve 2398).

In the short time the colony has been in existance it has grown rapidly and now is home to more than twenty thousand people in two main settlements, Chamblee and Thiera. Chamblee is the seat of the newly elevated baron deMargot who is also a member of the Royaume Council on Cygne.

Exploration for minerals continues at a high pace on this world which has an Earthlike density on a world the size of Mars. The baron duMargot appears to be aligned with the duc duDunois which has assisted in local development. Most colonists being drawn from Dunois in exchange for several monoplies being granted by the baro to the duc in exchange for this.
