Situated at just over five light years from Cygne the colony of Lafayette in the Kruger 60 star system was first settled in 2550. The colony was originally established as a mining facility and initially grew rapidly despite the hostile conditions. The colony was admitted as a province of Le Royaume des Etoiles du Cygne in 2590, initially under a baron, then later as the colony grew the title was upgraded to vicomte de Lafayette.

In 2615 following some harsh measure introduced by Antoine vicomte de Lafayette, notably a very high life support tax with draconian punishments such as expulsion from the habitats, the colonists rose. The rebellion that followed, though short in duration damaged much of the colonies infrastructure. Vicomte Antoine was killed during the uprising which was finally suppressed in 2616.

A new vicomte, the grandson of Antoine has taken up the position but has no power yet as the government of the colony is under military rule.
