The planet Lafayette is the seat of the vicomte deLafayette and is a colony of Le Royaume des Etoiles du Cygne. Lafayette is currently under military rule following the rebellion of 2615-2616. The full array of planetary government offices and functions are still present but are currently being headed by military officers appointed by the military. Lower level functions are still carried out by civilians but are subject to oversight by the military.

Lafayette is currently a single, now hereditary administrative district which would have answered to the vicomte deLafayette. However currently there has been no date set for a handback of functions from the military to the vicomte.

All Executive, Legislative and Judicial authority is currently under the oversight of the Cygne military. The vicomte deLafayette is a member of the Royaume Council on Cygne but neither the council not the monarch has ordered the military to relinquish power in the system.

The current defacto governor of Lafayette is admiral Guesglin who is backed up by both naval and marine assets in the system.
