The planet Ferrol is a full member of the Eridani Alliance despite its low population. The Alliance does maintain some facilities on the planet Ferrol but these are of minimal size. The exception being the construction of an Alliance naval base to guard the route into Das Sternum Reich known as the "backdoor."

Ferrol appoints one member to the Alliance Council who in the case of Ferrol is also the head of the local ruling family. Technically the government of Serpiente is a self perpetuating oligarchy with the head of the ruling family being titled the baron of Ferrol.

The population on Ferrol is low enough that local government functions are carried out by officials appointed by the baron of Ferrol on the recommendation of the citizenry. Each "town" on Ferrol also elects its own "sherrif" to oversee local law enforcement.

Disputes can be brought before the baron of Ferrol, or his representative when not present, though normally an appointed justice will oversee any cases. Unlike Pelayo and Beiro, Ferrol does not have a duelling culture as such, but locals are quite prepared to interact with other Alliance citizenry in this way if they feel it necessary.
