The moon Vanate is a part of the Das Sternen Reich. The system is currently held by Diderik vonVanate as a semi-feudal holding. vonVanate provides the executive authority of the Reich, the vonVanate family is also the majority owner of the mining facilities on the moon Vanate.

The family also hold a seat on the Reich's Landstraad Council which is based on Wesse and provides legislative authority in the Reich. The current lord, Diderik vonVanate has not missed a meeting of the council in twenty years, so as a consequence spends most of his time on Wesse in the Epsilon Indi system. His authority is delegated to his son who runs the system in his fathers absence.
