The Reich colony world of Inius is located beyond the boundaries of what is called Core Space. The planet was discovered in 2510 and was immediately made a state secret by Kaiser Alexander II. Colonisation on a massive scale began, numerous colonists, especially scientists and their families simply vanishing from their homes on Wesse, to find themselves transported to Inius. So many people were transported, not all of them forced to move to Inius, though many were, that the population has grown to over one hundred and eighty million in only one hundred and fifty years.

What the Reich found on Inius was evidence of a former settlement by an alien race now called the Thalor. Most of the remains were wrecked, but sufficient remained for the Reich to invest a huge amount into trying to understand and attempt to recover the pieces of technology that they found. With the outbreak of the Reich/UWC war (2638 to 2640) even more effort was put into reocvering technology on Inius but it was not until 2655 that a breakthrough occurred. Shortly after tis the Reich began producing man portable and vehicle mounted plasma weapons which so far no other groups within the Core Worlds have been able to reproduce.

Recent information has placed the GJ 832 system in which Inius is found, almost exactly halfway between the Epsilon Indi system where the Reich capital is found and GJ 784 which the Reich believes is the location of the original Thalor homeworld. In 2660 the Reich despatched a small squadron from Inius to confirm whether or not the GJ 784 system was the homeworld of the Thalor and whether or not they still existed. The squadron vanished without trace.

In 2661 before a follow up to the 2660 expedition could be mounted attacks began on the settlements and facilities on Inius. It is believed that these attacks are the direct consequence of the 2660 expedition and that the attacks are being mounted by the Thalor. The Reich has responded by increasing its naval presence in the system. Further research on whether the plasma weapon technology can be used as a basis for starship weaponry using either gravitic focussing or relativistic acceleration of the plasma is now soaking up much of the worlds research potential.
