The Wolf 359 system was originally subject to a cursory survey by sub-light probe and was at that time written off as not worth the effort. The world was finally properly surveyed more than a century ago and the mining settlement Wolf Station was established almost immediately by BHP Trans. The world has proven to be an excellent source of light metals and non-metallic compounds and further detailed mining surveys continue to be carried out.The icy world according to BHP Trans being a good source of various difficult to manufacture non-metallic substances. The Consoldiated Mining Group is also present in the system and has established a small facility on the moon of Yrsa, Elsa.

The world is on the route linking the mining colonies of Ross 128 and Lalande 21185 to Earth via Minerva Station resulting in a number of bulk carriers passing though periodically to collect the products produced there.
