The Taipan class corvettes are being discussed as test beds
for the Sirius Trade Federations proposed experimental meson guns. These would
represent the first meson
guns to enter service anywhere in known human space.
The proposal is to modify a number of the existing Taipans which currently
mount a spinal particle accelerator and replace it with a similar sized Meson
gun.
