The Amazon class was designed as a faster version of the Assyrian class frigates and hence were classified as destroyers. Like the later Ambuscade class, the Amazons are light on energy weapons, relying instead on a 20 displacment ton missile bay and four missile barbettes to supplement the spinal particle accelerator. There are now no unmodified Amazon class vessels in active service with the UWC navy but 20 examples are laid up in the strategic reserve. |
