The Ariel class shuttle is an obsolete type slowly being replaced in the United Worlds Commonwealth. Examples of the Ariel can still be found however within the UWC. The Ariel was designed as a short range shuttle for use between orbit and a world surface. Its AZHRAE thruster allows the craft to be tailored for differing conditions. External boosters are also able to be used by the class when internal fuel would be insufficient to achieve orbit. |

Passenger seats may be removed, each adding 3.5 cubic meters to the cargo capacity. No fuel purification equipment fitted. Up to 385.318 cubic meters (385.318 tons) of reaction mass is carried. The power produced by the AZHRAE in rocket mode (10Mw) is not normally utilised. In Ramjet mode the AZHRAE produces 6.6667Mw, and in Turbojet mode 4Mw, this power is used to supplement the MHD turbine when it is possible to do so. |
