The Assyrian class frigates were designed just prior to the Amazon
class
destroyers, and were the foundation of all the TL9 frigate and destroyer
classes built by the UWC.
Somewhat heavier armed than the Amazon class destroyers the Assyrians
still
share many componants with the Amazons and later TL9 classes. The
heavier
armament has kept some Assyrian class frigates in service, primarily
in
secondary escort and patrol work.
