Profile of Piranha class missile sloop
The Piranha class missile sloop was the predecessor of the Manta class. The two classes are almost identical and share virtually all components. The principal exception is the power plant. The Piranha class vessels were equipped with a 50Mw fission reactor compared to the Manta's more powerful fusion type. The result of this is that no Piranha class vessels remain commissioned with the UWC, though some are laid up within the strategic reserve. |
